With prevention being the best treatment for avoidable accidents United Hatzalah embarked on an ambitious campaign to educate campers and hikers of the usual summertime risks. United Hatzalah partnered with other entities to man booths in the north and in the south at the major junctions in popular hiking areas. One of the volunteers reported that when he enquired whether the family of five had enough water for their 3 hour rigorous mid-day hike, the father pulled out a started 1.5 liter bottle of water. The family made a rapid about-face to re-supply when they were explained the mortal danger they faced being so ill-equipped. Many hikers credit these stations for the more responsible approach they have for their hike preparations. One teen quipped "hiking without enough water is very un-cool".
